Trying New Things

I would not consider myself to be the adventurous sort at all. Usually when I try something new I have spent a lot of time researching it first, and I have worked out all the possible scenarios in my head before I put myself out there. However, on our recent vacation to Edisto I am proud to report that this big chicken tried some new and relatively unplanned stuff and loved it!
My adventures began with an unplanned kayaking trip in the marshes around Edisto Beach. I have to admit that getting in and out of the boat was the toughest part. My very supportive group of fellow experienced kayaking friends were very patient and encouraging. Once I found my rhythm in the boat, I was good to go floating along and enjoying the wildlife and peaceful moments alone with nature. It was divine. By the time we got back to the landing I was pretty tired, but this is definitely something I will try again.

Heading Out

Feeling a Little More Confident in the Boat

Today we took the kids and some friends and tried our hand at crabbing. This is something Justin nor I had ever tried to do before. We read a little on-line and watched a You Tube video and headed off with our minimal gear of weighted line, a bucket, cooler and snacks to occupy the kiddos if they got bored. We had fantastic luck with our first crabbing experience, and the kids seemed to love it too. Justin cooked up the crabs when we got back to the beach house, and we plan to eat the bounty tonight at supper as an appetizer. So, all this to say I probably should try more new things more often because what is the worst that could happen?
