In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:10
Last Sunday at church the workers in the children's ministry performed dramatic interpretations of different scenes from the Easter story for the kids. Madeleine soaked up every word they said, and quoted many of the lines from the different scenes word for word to us over dinner and throughout the week. She told me it was her favorite Sunday at church ever. I knew that God was working in her heart because she has been asking all sorts of questions about sin, death, Jesus/God and what is means to be saved. Madeleine has been in church almost every Sunday since she was about eight weeks old. She has asked questions about God from time to time, but I was always hesitant to push too hard about salvation with her because I wanted her to fully understand what it meant to become a Christian. Well, God must have really used the lesson last Sunday to move in her heart because tonight she asked Justin and I to sit down with her and lead her to Christ. It was such a tender moment, and I was so worried that I would say the right things and not confuse her. I tried to lead her verse by verse through Romans, and it was amazing to see how clearly she seemed to understand everything I was telling her. After reading through the verses in the Bible together, we asked her if she was ready to pray. Justin got on one side, and I was on the other. We didn't give her the words to say. We just told her to talk to God not to us. She closed her eyes and prayed the sweetest simplest prayer of salvation and then smiled the biggest smile. Justin and I both had happy tears in our eyes as we shared this precious moment with our baby girl. Mimi gave her a big girl Bible for Christmas, and I wrote the date and time in the front cover of her Bible for her. We praise God that our baby girl has accepted Christ into her heart, and we are so thankful for all the loving family and church members who helped to plant the seeds of faith into her mind and heart.
