Growing up my younger sister and I fought a lot…a whole lot. We are as different as two people can be, and many times those differences ignited heated discussions. Those special family members and friends who have had the pleasure of living with us under the same roof can attest to our "unique" relationship. But, I can honestly say that part of growing up and becoming a mature adult means that you learn to not sweat the small stuff. And, you also learn that most of the time when you are upset with a person it has more to do with problems and insecurities that you have than with the other person at all. All that to say, my sister and I have become much closer, and we have learned to accept and respect our different personality traits. Jennifer is having her first baby in late October, and I could not be more excited for her. She is a beautiful person on the inside and out, and I know that she is going to be an amazing mother to her baby girl. I love you Jennifer!
Watching the sister/brother relationship that has developed between Madeleine and Micah has been amazing for me. I never had a brother, so I have really watched this boy/girl relationship very carefully. Madeleine loves Micah so much, and she protects him like a mama lioness. Micah thinks his sis is the greatest person in the whole wide world. If she eats it, he eats it. If she plays with a toy, he wants to play with it in the same way. He wants to read her books, color her pictures and basically just copy everything she does. Recently, we have found him on several occasions sneaking out of his bed at night to lie down in the floor beside her bed or in the hallway at her bedroom door. I was able to capture a picture of this last night, and I wanted to keep it to show them someday when they are tearing each other's hair out. I hope they will always be this close to each other. Thank God for sisters.
