2010 Summer Excitement!

This morning I went outside to wash off the kids' inflatable pool, and my little shadow followed me. As usual she quickly deserted the work scene and made her way over to see the kids playing next door. She ran back out of breath totally excited about her new discovery. Don't ask me why this crazy big turtle wandered all the way up the dirt road from the river to our neighbor's backyard to lay her eggs, but she did. That poor turtle was scared to death with all the kids looking down as she finished piling dirt on her nest. We are going to do a little research to find out what kind of turtle it is, but for now the neighborhood kids are all a buzz about when the baby turtles will hatch. We might have a science lesson in our very own backyard!
