Motherhood: A Circus Act

Sometimes I feel like I am truly a performer in a circus trying to juggle family, work, school and church. There are days when I can effortlessly keep all of the balls in the air with no problem. There are days when I drop one, and luckily Justin is usually there to pick it up and help me continue. And, then there are those rare days where I am able to put down 1-2 of the balls and just make life easier for a moment. Today was one of those days. Today has been a good day, a really good day. Today I only had to juggle wife and mama, and it felt so good. Micah has been congested for weeks, and we decided to take him to the doctor yesterday. He is cursed with our allergy and sinus problems. You are probably wondering what is good about a sick kid? Well, nothing other than that because he was not feeling well I was able to stay home with him today. And, I decided to keep Madeleine home too, so we could be entertained. I still had to do all the not-so-fun mama stuff like laundry, changing sheets and cleaning out closets. But, I was able to take a long morning shower...usually I have to do this at night because it is a major reconstruction project for me to try to do this in the morning and get to school. Madeleine and Micah were able to stay in their pajamas all day. They played in his room together for over an hour with their Mr. Potato Heads and Micah's choo-choo set. And, I was able to finish the laundry and straighten up the house and just listen to them together. At naptime I was able to lie down with Madeleine in the twin bed in Micah's room and listen to them breathe as they fell asleep. And, I was able to eat lunch with them together and after lunch introduce them to the Smurf's cartoon
on Boomerang On Demand. Madeleine loved it. I know these things probably seem small to most people, but these special moments with my babies made today a great day for me. We got all of our confirmations for Disney World this week. I cannot wait until Spring Break when I will get to spend some extra special time with my family!
