2009 Christmas Fun Continued...

I am about halfway through operation...Where Do We Put All These New Toys. Seriously, I have really had to reorganize to make it all work, but I think we should be able to find a place for everything. One good thing about having a small house is that it is not possible to keep stuff you do not use, and we end up with a lot less clutter. The bad part is actually having room for the kids to take out and play with their stuff, but somehow we make it work.

We had a wonderful morning at our home on Christmas day. Staying home on this day was a first for us, so I was not sure how it would feel. Justin made pancakes with sprinkles on Christmas morning at Madeleine's request. He even used the reindeer cookie cutters. We read the Christmas story of Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve and hung our baby Jesus ornament that we got from RHBC on the tree on Christmas morning. Then we opened presents. The next hour was spent extricating toys from boxes with about one million little twistie ties. I mean seriously is it necessary to have that many devices holding the toys in the boxes? We planned a big Christmas dinner, but we did not really plan for lunch. So, after being inspired by the movie classic, A Christmas Story, Justin went out to get Chinese food for lunch. Yum...is all I can say about that.

It rained all day on Christmas day, but it was perfect napping weather which is exactly what Micah Boo and I chose to do during the afternoon. Justin, being the industrious little hubby that he is, got busy putting our standing rib roast in the oven. It was divine! Seriously, he is SO much better of a cook than I am, and I think that is partly do to the fact that he follows directions and knows what all the fancy cooking words actually mean because a lot of them are French. I can cook some things well, but I leave the fancy meat stuff to him, and he never disappoints.
On the 26th we went to Mom and Dad's house for Christmas in Florence. It was so good to see my sister Jennifer and her hubby, Michael. We had not seen them since the summer, so it was nice to be able to spend some time with them. Madeleine absolutely adores her Aunt Jenny. The kids had a blast playing with all their new presents, and we were able to get some Wii time in too. I think I pretty much ate my way through the whole visit because Mama had all kind of goodies lying around begging to be eaten. I pretty much destroyed some Young's Holiday Pecans. It was ugly...but there's always January to start the new diet...right? Thank you Mama and Daddy for all your hospitality while we were visiting. Everything was just perfect!
Tomorrow I will pack up Christmas 2009 for another year because I get depressed if I don't get it cleaned up. It has been a fantastic holiday season. I am posting some video from the Flip camera below to capture some of my favorite moments.
