October is my favorite month of the year for many reasons. It is my birthday month, the weather begins to cool, the fair comes to town, it marks the end of the killer first nine week grading period, my parent/teacher conferences are completed and last but not least I get to break out the leisure suit collection. Those lucky people who have taught with me for a few years know that I have a lovely collection of cool weather jogging suits which I lovingly refer to as my leisure suits.
The weather will have to chill just a little more before I make the big yearly fall preview, but trust me friends I have already unpacked my lovelies and they are hanging in the closet just waiting for the first cold Friday. This past week I celebrated my 32nd birthday. Mama came from Florence and delivered one of her homemade chocolate cakes with homemade strawberry ice cream. Have I mentioned that I am thoroughly enjoying her retirement?
She was also able to spend a whole day spoiling each of the kids separately. Micah and Mama spent most of the day playing with blocks and reading his books. Madeleine and Mimi went to the fair together. Madeleine was so excited that she got to ride an elephant and a horse while she was there. And, Mama loved seeing all the farm animals. I think it reminds of her of her youth when she grew up on a large farm in Clarksville, Virginia. On Saturday we spent most of the day running errands and watching the Carolina game. Mama helped the kids carve a jack-o-lantern. Micah was a little confused as to what the spoon was for. You will have to check out the video clip to see my little artists in action. Happy October to all...long live the leisure suits!
