Today I had the pleasure of spending the day with some of my Sunday School friends. I must admit that when the idea first was presented of getting up on Saturday to go to a women's conference in downtown Columbia, I was a little hesitant. But, I am so glad that I did because I was able to hang out with some fun gals and allow God to speak to my heart about my willingness to share Christ with others. Those people who know me well know that I am very task-oriented. Give me a job, and I will do it. Sometimes I become so focused on "my jobs" in life...school, kids, daily responsibilities of being a grownup that I forget to stop and even take the time to pay attention to the people around me. It is like I get sucked into a zone, and I can't get out. For me the most meaningful lesson that I took from the Lifestyle Evangelism Conference today was to be more sensitive and aware to the lost souls that I encounter everyday. To see them as people who without Jesus will live life without hope and die to spend an eternity in hell. Also, I was convicted to really be aware of the gifts God has given to me and use them to minister to others. The main theme of the conference was "What's in Your Hand?" One of the speakers shared the example of Moses in the Bible when God used the rod in his hand to show the Israelites His glory. These are big thoughts, and I am still letting it all sink in. But, I am sure glad that I went because I know God wanted me to be there. And, the flowers in the men's First Baptist Church bathroom urinals were a sight to behold! You knew I could not resist this photo opportunity.
