2010 Impromptu Santa

I have had those years where I would dress the kids up and wait in line for over an hour to get the perfect shot with the perfect Santa. Was it worth it? Yes, because I cherish those pictures. However, this year was not one of those years. For some reason this holiday season has seemed like a blur of never ending "to do" lists for me at school and home. Today was our last day of school, and the first real chance I have had to catch my breath. We went out to the Olive Garden for "delicious white noodles." This is Madeleine's reference for fettuccini alfredo. Then we did a little Target jaunt and a quick trip to the mall. Somewhere in between looking for Mama's Clinique Bonus and Daddy's Williams Sonoma fix we ended up at the Santa picture stand. The line was short and that is probably what lured us in. Madeleine was sporting her "after-school hair," and Micah had on his USC best. Santa didn't seem to mind at all, and the elves were more than happy to take my fifteen bucks. All in all it was worth it because we left with two happy, disheveled kids who were able to talk to Santa. This was the perfect beginning to our holiday break at home together.
