Go to the Gym or Pay!!!!

Well, this was one of those weeks that tested my mind, body and soul. Monday was pretty normal..except for the fact that Monday is gym day. We always try to go the gym on Mondays...when we don't it is like an omen of things to come. Needless to say we both had extra work at school to do, so we didn't go...and it went downhill from there. Tuesday afternoon I got a call from Madeleine's daycare saying that she had broken out in a rash all over her body. I never like to hear my name on the loudspeaker at the school because it usually means...you missed a duty, the daycare is calling to tell you that you have a sick child or you have a parent phone call. Since Interim Reports were going out this week the parent phone call volume always goes up. Anyway, daycare it was. Since Tuesdays are our meeting day I had to get special permission to leave. When I got to Madeleine's school the rash was still there, but not so bad. I tried to get a doctor's appointment for that day, but no luck with all the sickness going around. The only available appointment was for 2:20 the next day. So, for the working mama that meant taking the day off because Madeleine couldn't go back to daycare until she saw the doctor. Long story...longer...Madeleine had fifth disease....not a big deal...unless you are in the early stages of pregnancy...which is not a concern here. :) So, that was Wednesday. I sent her back to school on Thursday with a note and doctor's excuse, and I thought all was well. The Gym Omen was not through with me yet! Thursday afternoon I dismissed my students and had a queasy little feeling come over me. I tried everything to get myself together, but I knew that I was getting sick. I was right. My entire family had some sort of terrible bug. I seemed to have to worst case. Poor Justin had the kids because I couldn't even stand up, and he was feeling pretty poorly himself. I kept lying in bed thinking about how hard it would be to be a single parent when you were really sick. Thank God I am not in this alone. Today we are all feeling better, and I am hoping for some normalcy to the weekend. The lesson from all of this...go to the gym or PAY!
