Feeding time has become quite an adventure these days, and I am learning to just chill out about messy faces and food that sometimes drops to the floor. Micah is learning all about new foods, tastes and textures. Even though this is my second time doing all this, I still frequently refer to my What to Expect the First Year book for information on month to month development. This week I read, "A child's palate is actually born a clean slate; the tastes that develop depend on the foods introduced, even in the first months of eating. How your child will ultimately eat-whether...white or wheat...chips or apple...raisins or marshmallows- will be primarily influenced by the foods you set on his or her high chair tray now." Okay, so I am thinking..BIG RESPONSIBILITY. Now, any of you who know our family know that by no means are we health fanatics, but I do want my kids to be willing to try different foods and have some diversity to their diets; thus, the tilapia that Madeleine took 2 "polite bites" from at supper tonight. That being said, I do love my marshmallows...and they will too. I have attached some cute video footage of Micah at supper time. He is so funny these days as he is learning how to express his feelings more clearly. And, I hear Dada a whole lot more than Mama...so unfair. Enjoy!Monday, January 5, 2009
