"Blogworthy" Bits from Christmas 2008

Christmas for our family means a lot of time on the road. I hate the packing and unpacking of it all, but it is nice to be able to spend some time at the homes we knew as children during the holiday season. This year we began our holiday traveling with a trip to Charlotte to see my sister-in-law, Shelley, perform in a play called The Birth. Shelley is one of those people who is good at just about everything she tries. So, it came as no shock to hear her sing during the performance a song by Andrew Peterson. The name of the song was Labor of Love. The song speaks of Mary's struggles as she carried and delivered the baby Jesus. You have to check out the You Tube video to see/hear the words. When you have actually been in labor this song takes on a whole new meaning for you because the reality of how hard this must have been for Mary is even clearer. This is not Shelley singing, but she did an AMAZING job. Also, Shelley works quite a bit with graphic design. We drew names with Justin's family for Christmas, and she had my name. She made me a really cool personalized print that perfectly captured my two babies at the present time. I can't wait to find the perfect place to hang it in the house.

At Justin's home in Greenville we enjoyed our time with Grandma and Papa. Madeleine and Micah really enjoyed spending time with Uncle Matt, Uncle Jerod and Aunt Shelley. Micah did his best to open his own gifts, but he had to have a little help...which Madeleine was glad to oblige.

After eating lunch on Christmas day we packed up the car and headed back to Irmo...for 30 minutes. Then we were off to Florence. I was excited to see my sister and my brother-in-law, Michael. They live in Richmond, and since Michael is a medical resident he does not get a lot of time off. Madeleine and Micah really enjoyed spending time with Aunt Jenny and Uncle Michael. My mom prepared an amazing meal for Christmas dinner on Thursday night. She had turkey and ham with all the fixings. Mama is really talented at putting together a beautiful table, so I could not resist taking a picture before we ate. It was WONDERFUL!

Justin surprised me with a Wii on Christmas day, so we had a great time checking out the Wii Sport games. He is quite good at the golf, but I have to say that I am the bowling pro. Madeleine started to go a little stir crazy the day after Christmas, so Justin took her outside to play. She found a ball and bat in her toy box at Mimi and Grandaddy's house. Please notice that she is still wearing prince attire, but Justin said she was nailing the balls he was throwing to her...left handed. It's all about balance...okay maybe not balance, but 80% girly stuff and 20% tough stuff. He took this really cute shot of her while they were playing. And, for those of you who are freezing and looking at snow outside...it really was warm enough to wear this in SC on the day after Christmas.

We are truly blessed that God has given us such loving and supportive families. I thank God for each one of you guys and what you mean to all of us. We love you...hope to be together again very soon for some more family fun.

PS- Michael, I am practicing my Wii skills...so watch out!!!!! I loved the picture of us playing on Jennifer's Facebook page...priceless.
